Penland: Making a Manifesto (2021)
I received a scholarship for a letterpress class taught by Rick Griffith at Penland School of Craft. We made solo projects (see next section) and our class made Make a Manifesto as a group project. We set digital type and laser cut a wood block for the text and the square background colors. After printing we perforated the paper with the laser cutter so you can tear all the words apart and assemble your own personal manifesto.
Got a bit crazy and decided to do different color sections from one block...

Hand inking the block defeats the purpose of the press a bit, but the results were great and only 1 custom printing block needed to be made.

Penland: shut up about the sun (2021)
As a present/joke for my husband, I made a "Shut Up About the Sun" print based off the Gabe Lewis quote from The Office. Made with hand-set wood type.
Mmm...that wood type texture 🤤

Postcards (2018)
Made in a university letterpress class. The goal was to create a series of abstract postcards representing different locations.
I decided to use the topography of the locations as a pattern for my cards. Each pattern is hand-traced off a topographic map from the school library. I letterpressed the cards in two colors, using overprinting to achieve the third color. I bundled them into packs using a blind-printed strip of paper as the band.
Self-Portrait (2018)
Blind contour self-portrait made into a printing block. Paired with a list of things that warm my lil' heart.
